About us

SoftDeck Pty Ltd (ABN 90 656 203 477) runs softdeck.com.au. In this policy, "we", "us" and "SoftDeck" mean SoftDeck Pty Ltd.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Information we collect

We collect the personal information that you give us and the technical data that your browser sends when you visit this website.

  • Contact details, such as your name, business name, email address and phone number.
  • Enquiry details, such as the work that takes your team time, the systems it touches and the outcome you want.
  • Client records, if you hire us: billing details, project notes and our correspondence with you.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request and the time of each request. Our hosting provider may record this when it serves the website.

Keep payment card numbers, passwords and sensitive information, such as health details, out of your enquiry. We do not need them to reply.

This website is for businesses and does not target children.

The AI assessment form

The form on the AI assessment page does not save your answers on this website or pass them to another service. Selecting Send to SoftDeck opens a draft email to support@softdeck.com.au in your own email app, with your answers filled in.

We receive nothing until you send that email. Your email provider carries it to us, and we handle it as an enquiry under this policy.

Using information

We use personal information to:

  • reply to your enquiry and decide whether we can help
  • scope, quote and deliver work, and support it after delivery
  • invoice you, collect payment and keep the financial records that the law requires
  • run, secure and improve this website and our systems
  • meet our legal duties and resolve disputes

We send marketing email to people who have asked for it or agreed to receive it. Each marketing email carries an unsubscribe link.

We ask for your consent before we use your information for a different purpose, unless the law allows or requires the use.

Sharing information

We do not sell personal information. We share it with:

  • service providers that host this website, run our email and business tools, or help us invoice and get paid
  • professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers and insurers
  • people you ask us to share it with
  • courts and government bodies, where the law requires it
  • a buyer or successor, if we sell or restructure the business

We expect our providers and advisers to protect the information they handle. Some of them store or process information outside Australia, in countries where they run data centres. That can include the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure a provider handles personal information in a way that fits the Australian Privacy Principles.

Information we handle for clients

If we build or run systems for a client, we may handle personal information about the client's customers or staff. This policy does not cover that information. The client decides what goes into its systems, and our written agreement with the client sets out how we handle it.

If you want to know what a business holds about you, ask that business.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. This website uses HTTPS.

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. After that, we delete it or remove the details that identify you.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we notify the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Privacy Act requires.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Email support@softdeck.com.au. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we reply within 30 days.

If we refuse a request, we tell you why in writing, except where the law stops us. You can ask us to stop sending marketing email, or to delete information we do not need for the purposes above.

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, email support@softdeck.com.au with the details. We investigate and reply in writing within 30 days. If our reply does not resolve the matter, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top shows when we last changed it.
